Dear Businesswoman, Farmer’s wife, Teacher, Housewife, Career Woman…
For how long will you continue to believe the lie that your occupation, location, spouse & financial position determines your worth. How many more times are you going to base your identity on the opinion of others, your status & your earthly posessions.
Forget about all of it for just a minute. Who are you truly, deep down, stripped from all of these things. The things that you’ve always believed, defines you.
You, yes you!
Crown of God’s Creation.
Daughter of the Almighty.
Woman, specially called by name for a time such as this.
Had you really forgotten it all…so quickly? Simply because of the illusion of what the world’s modern day women is “supposed” to do & be?
- If you’re a housewife, you should be ashamed to say it aloud, because this is obviously not a full-fledged proffesion.
- When you’re a stay at home mom, your obviously not doing much. You have so much time on your hands.
- Career woman, don’t you feel bad about neglecting your children day in and day out?
- When your a teacher you’re basically on a paid holiday. How hard could looking after a couple of kids be? Seriously?
- Farmer’s wife, you must be so bored sitting around the house the entire day. When your isolated it’s impossible to be or acheive anything.
If you’ve ever believed any of the lies mentioned above, I am asking you to STOP. Yes, me, the “bored” farmer’s wife from the Free State. Stop giving others the power over your life, to determine your worth. You have been specially hand-crafted and chosen by the King of all kings to fulfill a role on this earth. To live out a purpose, that no other woman or man can substitute for. God provided us with the image of the “perfect woman” in Proverbs 31, but truth is non of us are or can ever be the full circle. So why do we believe that we HAVE to be and do everything? If each of us were uniquely created by God, why would we be responsible to execute EXACTLY the same tasks on this earth.
For so long, my perception of what a woman “should” be was formed by a worldy view. I also believed that my worth is determined by achievement, money, titles, success and how I was seen by others. A chasing after the wind and wasted time, not fulfilling my God-given potential & life purpose for the only person that truly matters, GOD.
Many a times in the Bible we read how God uses men and women that seemed to be “weak”, “average” and “without potential” in the eyes of man. Figures such as Gideon, David, Ragab, Maria & Moses.
I have no clue what your situation looks like. What I do know is that whatever is done in obedience to God, with a sincere heart, is never overlooked. The days when you feel that your day or tasks have no point, rememember: “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” – Colossians 3:17.
Our lives don’t always go according to plan, we might not land the perfect job we dreamed of, marry our prince charming or have a family of our own & it’s OKAY. Our purpose here on earth is so much more than what we do & achieve. It’s about who we are and Whose we are. Above all else it’s not about ourselves, not for one moment. But rather about how God can make use of us for His Glory & Kingdom.
In my wildest dreams, I would never have thought that I’d marry a farmer, live on a farm in the Eastern Free State & on top that, call it home. I thank God that some of the dreams I had for myself did not come to realization – what a fiasco that would’ve turned out to be! I am certainly far from domesticated and being a typical farmer’s wife. I can however testify that with hard work en a lot of grace, God has opened doors that would have been impossible to unlock in my own power. I have been able to live my dreams from my presumeably “isolated situation”.
Your worth is not determined by what you do, where you live, with who you are married or what you earn. Your own thoughts and the lies the enemy has made you believe about yourself is your only limitation, because the God that I serve is a God that performs miracles and makes the impossible possible – every single day! Be the woman you were created to be, whatever the definition, whatever the role & be that in abundance! A full-fletched link in the Kingdom chain. Let your womanhood shine for God with a jewel from within and not merely a crown for the outside world to see.
Take the time to get to know the woman God intentionally created you to be. Journey with Him and discover your purpose, because it holds more than you could have ever imagined.
